97 Fiesta, 1.3 endura e engine.Voltage reading from Alternator showing 19 volts.  But only 6 volts at the battery.

Any ideas?

Ok here's what the answer was. Between the alternator and the starter motor there is a live cable, which then runs to the battery. When the starter motor was changed the cable got a break in it. Changed the cable and now the car is fine, alternator was obviously put into it's highest output due to the low battery.
