The engine warning light has come on - why?

Oil level and pressure is OK.  Water temp OK.  Battery OK

the computer has come up with a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) from one of the many systems it monitors. u need an obd2 scanner to read the code and figure out wats wrong

Thanks. looks like a visit to the workshop to identify the actual sensor causing the problem.

i must agree with the two comments above odds are that the ecu is reading a fault which could left unchecked could cause serious damage to your engine would advise you get it checked asap or you may live to regret it as engines theese days are so complex compared to 20 years ago regards j.s autos
