Hi.I recently got the serpentine belt and tesioner replaced on my 1998 cavalier. It still has a whining noise (not nearly as bad as before the belts were replaced) whenever I accelerate or am idling. Sometimes the noise goes away, but then it'll start up again softly until it gets to a moderate level. It starts fine, shifts gears fine and drives fine, its just the whining noise that concerns me. Any thoughts, suggestions or possible diagnosis are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!
check the power stering fluid.
check waterpump. if its a 2.2 they will whine when they are getting ready to calve and take your head with it
