how do i put a 2008 CX-7 in nuetral while the car is off?

the car battery is dead and I need to jump start it. To do that I need to push the car out of
the garage so I can connect jumper cables to another car.

Put the key in the ignition, turn to the first position, then apply the brake and shift into neutral.
