1999 Chevy LT 1500 won't start unless starting fluid is sprayed into intake. Truck runs fine until shut off. What's the cause.
Truck runs fine after starting with ether. In order to restart truck after motor shutdown, I have to use starting fluid. Is it the fuel pump? If so, why does it run without any codes or malfunctions until motor is shut off.
Sounds like the fuel system is losing pressure once you shut it off. My '03 S-10 Pick Up does that. Try this, turn the ignition on but don't try to start it. Wait 5 seconds then turn the ignition off. Then immediately try to start it. If it fires right up you're losing fuel pressure. Most likely cause is a dying fuel pump. There's a check valve, incorporated into the fuel pump module, that wears out. HTH. -Jim
