99 malibu changed fuel pump but not fuel filter ,,if i try the anti thft rest will it start or should i replace filter to
Most parts stores will not honor the warranty if the filter is not replaced at the same time. I have always replaced the filter and the relay when replacing the fuel pump. relays can be damaged by a bad fuel pump that may not show up right away but will down the road.
Perform the re-learning procedure Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start). Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately 10 minutes the light will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 10 seconds. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the Sensor Data Code and/or password). You can also bypass that antitheft. It may have been the antitheft that was your original issue since it turns off the fuel injectors, which can be misinterpreted as a bad fuel pump. http://newrockies.com/
