when i buy a flasher the parts places give me a regular flasher electronic. but i cant find where it is. when you turn on the turn signals the four way flasher switch clicks which leads me to the flasher is in the four way switch. i am confused.

There are 2 flashers one for the 4way and then a second for the turn signals. One is under the dash near steering column the other plugs directly into the fuse box.

The turn and hazard flashers are integrated into one flasher on these models. The flasher is located in the hazard warning switch and the hazard warning switch is located on the trim plate. The one you push to turn on the flashers. Replace the flasher by unplugging the old one, removing it from the panel, and plugging in the new one. If this does not take care of your problem then you will have to replace the multifunction switch which is the turn signal switch.

I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu. I also was having problems with the turn signals coming on for a short time or not at all. I fixed the problem by replacing the hazard blinkers switch. The hazard switch has the flashers for the turn signals built into it. There is a good U-Tube video that explains how to change the switch.
