My Volvo 240 (2008, 150k miles) had its check engine light come on for the first time since I purchased it in 2010.
I am about to go on a 300 mile trip this weekend, and am concerned since my check engine light came on recently. I have never brought the car in for routine maintenance. Should I be concerned, or can I embark on my trip without bringing it to a mechanic first?
Anytime a light pops up on the dash should be a cause for some concern.. Something isn't right and needs attention, But does it need immediate attention? It depends on the code and how the car is running. You can have the codes scanned at your local auto parts store and post them back here and we can then determine if it would be a good idea to make the trip.
Thanks! My plan is to stop by a place tonight, and get someone to scan it. I will post about whatever is triggering the computer's message, and hopefully can get additional feedback then.
According to the reader, the issue is the fuel pressure regulator. I am having no issues starting up my car... Is this a big issue?
