Smog check failing after battery changing.
I have a 2008 Lexus EX350, and I have just had the card battery replaced recently.
Last Saturday when I was to do the smog check, the mechanic told me there are 2 failed items on the list:
1. Evaporative System => Not Completed.
2. Oxygen Sensor => Not Complete.
It has bee 2+weeks/200 miiles since my battery changing. And there is no check-engin light on my car either.
Does anyone know a fast way to make these things working ?
By disconnecting the battery you cleared the computer. No worries though. The EVAP system is hard to set. But you must keep your gas tank between 3/4 and 1/4. Just drive normally for about a week and you should be good to go. As a generic rule you can set the oxygen sensor readiness monitor by starting the vehicle cold (the vehicle must sit for at least 17 hours) and let it idle for 3 to 5 minutes. Then drive off. This should set it. You're 2008 model, under federal regulations, must pass emissions with one of the readiness monitors not set. But no more than one. The EVAP system is very hard to set. If it's cold where you live it might not set until the outside temperature warms up. HTH. -Jim
