my car is making a ticking noise help
my 1999 camero is making a ticking noise not a knock though i hd an oil change just a
few mnths ago its never ran out of water what could it be
Is it coming from the front of the engine or in the engine?
Sounds like you have a lifter tapping. Have you checked your oil level and condition? If it is a lifter tapping add a sea foam to your oil(as directed on the can) and let it idle for about 30 minutes or so.(only idle do not rev it up). Then drain out and replace oil and filter. This will normally clean the hyd lifters and allow them to operate properly and not tap.
Same place I was going too dandyoun.
We must have been typing at same time. Lol
We think alike.
it is coming from the engine at first would go away after it warmed but now is continues someone from auto zone suggested an oil treatment which i did the ticking went away for about a week then came
Change the oil and add a bottle of lucas oil treatment.
It's a dirty lifter.
Lifters. Try the sea foam it works the best. But do it as I stated above.
That's scary someone thinking like me.
ok i will do the seafoam thing but ive never heard of it what is it
You can get it at auto zone or any local auto parts store. But do has directed above as it thins and cleans your engine. Revving your car up while its in the oil is not recommended. Then make sure to change the oil and filter right after doing the treatment. As tuff4x4 stated I would add Lucas oil treatment to your oil when you change the oil and filter.
Update. She used the sea foam and the ticking noise stopped. (Info from pm)
my 97 ticking. just found problem. evap solenoid sticking. unplugged electrical connection on solenoid and ticking quit. my car I s 6 cyl solenoid is on passenger side just behind altenator and above valve cover.
Sea Foam brand additive stops the factory ticking that almost all Mazda's make. It is a cleaner and does something else that I can not explain, but my engine went from (needs a rebuild) to (sounds like a new engine). I don't add and drain, that is a waste of good oil. I just add 1/2 can and leave it in. It seems to evaporate out after about 2 months, then I add 1/4 can. No more tapping. I've been doing this for about 2 years. I was just about to sell it. It is a 1996 Mazda MVP 6 cyl., 125k
I have a 98 camaro 3.8 v6 after a few minutes of warm up i get a rapid clicking sound. Kinda like a spark plug is off but car runs fine. I hear it mostly passenger side and ONLY after it warms. I drove it home from my shop and it ran fine. Any ideas where to check??
