Need to replace the whole steering column on a 2000 chevy 1500 4wd can i buy a used one or do i have to use a new one and does it have to be same year n model?

You can buy a used one but if there's an airbag system involved it should be the same model year or one that Hollinger's Interchange Manual says is compatible. HTH. -Jim
