HOW DO I TELL IF MY TRANNY IS A 3T40 OR A 4T40E ON MY 2000 CHEVY CAVALIER AUTOMATIC
If you know if it is 3 or 4 speed is the simplest way. 3t40 being a 3 speed and 4t40e being a 4 speed. Also if you have the 2.3 or 2.4L engines you have the 4t40e. If you have the 2.2l it could be either or. If these steps haven't helped you you can look on the transmission for the ID plate the following site will show you locations of ID plates for both types. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairguides/GM-Cavalier-Sunfire-1995-2000-Repair-Guide/SERIAL-NUMBER-IDENTIFICATION/Transaxle/_/P-0900c1528003c9d1
