i have a 1985 cutlass supreme i changed the transmission got it stared seems i have to put gas in the carb to get it to turn over is it fuel pump or filter?

Get a buddy to crank engine and look in carb to see if fuel is being delivered in venturies. Look out for backfired lol.

Sounds like you may have a damaged, bent, broken, or loose gas line running along the frame rail up to the fuel pump, a gas line line problem from the fuel pump to the carb, a bad gas filter in the carb inlet, or a bad fuel pump. All are easy to locate, cheap to replace, and fairly quick to repair.
