my 83 was originally 350 diesel.  it now has a 307 with headers.  looking to change the front springs to lower the front a little.  I have air shocks in back.
I drive it daily weather permitting, to car shows.  what is my best option?

If you are wanting to lower it, cut the springs yourself until you get the desired height. Just don't go crazy on the amount to take off. It may take a few try's to get the height your looking for.
