1971 rebuilt Olds 350 sometimes stalls

I have a 1971 Olds 350 engine that was rebuilt a year ago. It runs great and only recently
has it stalled a few times when stopped. It starts back up right away with no hesitation.
Once in a while while driving I feel a slight hesitation and then it is fine. I burn premium
gas and there is no problem when I accelerate and the engine is under a load.

Check for a vacuum leak. Is the carb clean or rebuilt recently? How are the points and plugs?


I would be looking really close at the distributor, breaker plate could have some sideways movement or the shaft is worn, also check the vacuum advance unit, the internal spring maybe worn out.
