OK, i have a 68 Cutlass S, there is a floor shifter (auto), and buckets in the front, i have not seen another 68 Cutlass Supreme like it and we are having issues finding out what it actually is, we checked the VIN and it is registered as a Cutlass S, but we ordered seats for the back and they do not fit, any suggestions as to what it is or what the seat problem may be
try www.442.com or the other cutlass forums on the net
re: '68 Cutlass "S" with floor shift/buckets, why dont my new seats fit?" Find your vehicle trim tag. Its a small silver sheet metal thing about 2 1/2" x 5" and is attached to the body by two sheet metal screws. I think its located below the windhield on the passenger side of the car under the hood(open) near the rubber cowl seal, below the wiper arm. On it is a series of #'s and letters in various sequence(s). It usually starts with: ST then a # for manufacture like "3" then letters "AJ" for Cutlass then series like "37" then a sequencial build # then TR for trim (interior/exterior colors) "965" and a seat # like "AN65" then paint code #'s like 19 - 19 then some vinyl top # like "76Y" then some other #'s for mouldings and stuff like that. These numbers aren't going to match what you have(just an example), however if you put your trim tag info on this website I'll try to tell you what your car came with. With this info. you'll be able to get the correct parts that will match existing stuff or help you re-create what should have been.
