dash light and oil change

Asked by Dec 09, 2013 at 02:08 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dash light flickered on and off last night and then went out completely.  Everything
else works, windows, locks, radio, brake lights.     2nd problem is I had an oil change
last week and I looked up on line how to reset the sensor so it reads 100% instead of
22%.  I tried 2 methods that I found on line, but with no luck.  I'm leaving within a week
to travel to North Carolina from CT and there's no way I can do this without the dash
lights...Please help!   Just a mom trying to "get er done" so I can pick up my Marine
and bring him home for the holidays...Really hoping I don't have to rent a car..I don't
know what kind of "trim" this car is.  It's a 2 door 5 speed manual

the oil light is just a reminder they should have did that at oil shop maybe, the red no oil light that is on when the key is on and off when engine runs is the one to watch! dash lights have a dimmer dial at dash switch or at same area of dash edge, turn it up asnd down. if you check a total no frill rent and I mean just the car local return and nothing else! you may save the cost in fuel and have peace of mind 99$ maby
