Trouble cranking...gas smell

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has had trouble cranking for the past two or three months. It always cranks, but it takes a few seconds to do so. Also, every time, I get to where I am going, when I get out of the car, I smell gasoline. Friends of mine said there might be a slow leak of power (a light left on somewhere perhaps), but I can't find anything left turned on (trunk light, glove compartment light, etc.). Any clue what it might be?

Those slow power leaks aren't necessarily even evidenced by a light on. It can be electrical components that you can't even see. Just had that happen with my '94 Cutlass. A parasitic draw in the wiring to the alternator was draining my battery every few days. My tech, who is an electrical genius found and fixed the problem. No parts were required, Just some time and know how.
