How do you turn off headlight

Asked by May 15, 2007 at 10:58 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Tracker

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The headlight turn off automatically when the engine is turned off.  However, how do you turn them off when engine is on and you do not want them on?

Your car has daytime running lights, meaning the lights come on no matter what position the toggle switch on the dash says (on or off.) There is a way to disable them (http://www.lightsout.org/disable.html#GMgen) but as a safety feature you probably would want to leave them on. A recent study suggests that you are 38% less likely to have a head on collision if you have your day time running lights enabled.

If you apply the parking brake the automatic headlights will not come on; release the parking brake and they will come on again.

I've tried putting the parking on before & after I turn my tracker on and still no luck. Any other suggestions?

Pull brake up one click in ratched mechanism and drive prob solved.
