Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughters pt cruiser oil pressure sensor light and
alarm keep going off when she is driving.  We have
replaced the sensor with no luck.  Is there another way to
stop the dinging?

Then it’s dinging for a reason, have the oil pressure tested before you scatter the engine all over the place.

First thing to do is check the oil level. If it's low, top it off. If it's over full the oil will foam and the oil pump will be sucking air bubbles instead of liquid oil. This will cause the oil pressure to drop. If the oil level is good there's something going on inside the engine such as worn bearings (not worth fixing), or a bad oil pump. Replacing the oil pump can be expensive but it still might be worth fixing. Hope that helps! Jim
