I have ford explorer 2008.it has run 267000 miles.
I kp changing engine oil regularly. Its spark plugs changed recently. Now im feeling its
drive is not so smooth and pick not good.it has run 267000miles. Sometimes i feel
unburnt fuel smell from exhaust.what can be the issues. I was thinking if i should fix it or
sale it out.plz advise
Any light lit up on the dash? CEL on? Scan the SUV for codes? There is more that can wrong than just plugs. Could be a vacuum leak or other sensor that is making the car run rich. Might be cheaper to fix than a new car. Depends on what you like or want to do.
No, no light lit up so far except for tire pressure sensor light which ocassionally lit up whenever i drive off road for 30 plus miles. The place where i am living is mostly desert terrain. 2 months ago my alternator stopped working while i was driving on a highway, at that time all sensors went crazy till my car stopped. Then i replaced alternator with a new one. Now whenever i step on gas i don't get equivalent amount of speed i have to push more to accelerate and i feel its fuel economy has decreased too. Correction its odometer is 167,000 miles.
Could be a host of simple fixes. If not mechanically inclined try cleaning the throttle body, it's not hard. A net search will give you directions. Have you change the fuel filter in 167K miles? Another rather simple fix.
No fuel filters not changed yet. But chnged engine oil filter. should i check fuel injectors aswell?
