key fob will not program

Asked by Sep 19, 2015 at 07:47 PM about the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid

Question type: General

have tried every step to the letter. After the first initial 8 turns the locks cycle, but when I push a button on my FOB it doesn't accept it. Eventually (usually by the time 30 seconds have passes) the locks cycle again to end programming. With no results. I even tried disconnecting my battery first for 10-15 minutes. All that got me was having to reset my radio and clock. I'm at a loss. And the battery is new. Help!

Sounds like you're doing everything right. That's how I programmed a second fob to my '08 Grand Marquis. Are you sure that the fob is compatible with your car? If it's supposed to be and it's new, take it back and exchange it. You may have a defective one. Also, some places have a gizmo that'll tell you if your key fob is working. I believe that some Home Depots and NAPAs have them. HTH. -Jim
