All interior dash lights come on and car won't accelerate?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been having this problem three times weekly for a month. For example: I will be stopped at a
stop sign and all the dash lights will come on. I try to accelerate and only if I am pedal to the
ground it will *slightly* move forward. When this happens, it will only go into reverse easily. If I
go through the gears it makes a clunking noise. The way I've found to temporarily fix it is to
disconnect a battery terminal for a few minutes then reconnect. If it is a transmission problem
then why would all the dashboard lights come on?? Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like you may have a problem with Engine Control Module if it resets after connecting the battery. If the warning lights flicker it could be a drop in voltage, if that's the case check battery connections. If terminals are ok you may have a faulty alternator.

We have had the same problem only without acceleration loss. BUT, if you turn the car off with all warning lights on, it will not start back up. 2008 Ford Taurus X with 155K miles
