Batteries not charging
I just recently had the "battery's not charging" pop
up on my dash. I changed the alternator and my
battery's charged. Now on my way home from work
tonight the same message popped up again. Does
anyone have an idea or advice as to what it could
be? 04 chevy duramax
First make sure it turns freely, check battery cables to make sure there's no corrosion and that they're tight, check connectors on alternator, make sure they're tight and the wire plug is not burnt. If everything checks out ok, take it to ur local auto parts and they'll check charging system. If alternator is bad, it should be under warranty
This unit has a computer controlled charging system, even if the alternator is capable of proper output the computer may not be turning the system on, so you get a not charging warning. Your local parts store may not be able to fully diagnosis the problem. Is there a check engine light on at the same time? If so then start with getting the codes checked, if no codes then the system may need to be live scanned, then the tech can read everything the computer sees, the sensors, the actuators and even the charging system response.
No check engine light, it's weird I was driving down the highway going about 75 and battery's were charging, all of a sudden the warning popped up on my dash
Still sounds like s computer problem, you may just want to head to the dealer, if it is an actual programming error they will be the only ones that can reflash the computer, the good news is that you will get the most recent updates for the system.
