What type of brakes should I put on my 2004 chevy express 1500 conversion van?
Hi, I have a 2004 chevy express high top conversion van. It's very heavy -
about 8000lbs. I'm wondering what type of brakes I should use with it being
much heavier then your standard cargo or passenger van. I saw one site
said oem was ceramic on back and semi-metallic on front but this would be
a standard van unconverted. Does it matter? I also need rotors. Should I
go with the slotted. We have had problems on vacations with our rotors
from traveling through the mountains. I'm not sure that we'll be going
through mountains anytime soon but I'm considering all options. Thanks
A counter guy at a reputable parts store can tell you what it came with & the differences between the different grades of pads...You want to go with at least OEM pads.
It would help if I read the whole question. Slotted & drilled rotors are good for mountain traveling, they cool down faster, Now I have heard pro's & con's of slotted rotors and ceramic pads, (which is probably the best) doesn't hurt to get different opinions to make your best decision. Oh, definitely matters what you put on there!
