O/D is short for 'overdrive'. So when the light is on, the O/D is off, meaning the transmission will not shift into the overdrive gear at speeds over 45mph to save you fuel mileage. It's all spelled out in the owners manual.

It means overdrive is off. Meaning the final gear (probably 4th in an 07 automatic Rio). Simply press the O/D button on the selector and the car will use all 4 gears instead of just 3. Its to improve fuel economy when driving on the highway or at higher speeds.

What if you can't get the button on the O/D to move on or off. Please tell me it could be a fuse.. That's about all I can afford.
