Can it be my tranny?

I was driving on the highway pretty good until i
heard a pop noise from the right side of my truck
its a 2004 colorado ls i5L well after the popping
noise it started slowing down even tho i was giving
it gas my speedometer dropped from 70 to 0 in
seconds pulled up to a gas station and put it on
park soon i started to realize my truck was rolling
back pressed the break and it stopped but would
keep rolling if i let go of the break i had to put on
the emergency break on so it wouldnt roll back.
Engine turn on and off properly and revs on park
but as soon as i put it in gear i can hear it shifting
from park to reverse or drive what can it be i need
help
