timing chain? or one of the tensioners maybe

thanks John will get them checked, would that be expensive?

could be if it snaps but a good mechanic can put new tensioners and chain on in about 3 1/2 hours it is quite a major job but nessesary to maintain a good running engine which will do 100k + there are plenty of enthusiasts and help sites on the web which will recommend a good specialist nr you that wont rip you off regards john j.s autos
