Car acceleration

Asked by Jul 18, 2016 at 06:05 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

OK so  i have a 2005 chevy malibu and when
I start the car and put in gear it is fine after
driving for a little bit I'll lose acceleration and
it won't accelerate but the engine is revving.
Then I pull over and turn  the car off and wait
5 secs and start up and put back in gear and
it drives fine again then once it starts driving
and everything starts flowing it will do it
again mainly if I sit at a light or something.
Any idea what could cause this problem.

Well, it could be a speed sensor problem or transmission? I hope for your sake it's the former.

Depending upon how many miles and the overall condition of your car, you may want to consider getting rid of it. Reason; see this. http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/Malibu/2005/
