Do I need to change my under the hood fuse box
My car is haveing difficulty starting, we have to give it gas now wich is a recent problem.
Also it will idle very fast or not fast enough to keep running. We recently found were this
grinding sound (almost like a blown speaker) was coming from. It's my fuel pump fuse
under the hood. Replacing the fuse did not help. What should i do?
Is it a fuse or a relay? a fuse will not make noise a relay is a box square
It's the second grey box from the left, it vibrated when it is making the sound.
Try switching them they should fit and try
Is the fuel pump noisy?
I tried to switch them and it didn't help. The fuel pump is quit. I replaced it about 8 months ago.
Those look burnt. If they are then replace them. Your idle issue could be a dirty/faulty idle air control valve. Or dirty throttle plate.
That's grease on them. Thanks for all your help.
Oh ok. If your idle air control valve is bad you will have to press the gas peddle some to get it to start.
Would the idle air control valve cause the fuel pump relay switch to crackle?
No but if it's making crackling sounds it's bad or it's connections under it are bad and need to be repaired or replaced. It should just make a light click sound when it's energized.
All a relay is is an electric switch that when energized it connects contacts inside it to energize other components. Any sound other than a click is a bad thing. Causes for a clacking sound could be bad/loose relay connections, bad relay and or a bad ground connection.(negative battery connection to frame and motor)
