2007 Pontiac Torrent

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Pontiac Torrent.  Car ran hot.  Had the radiator replaced, themostat replaced, fans replaced, coolant replaced. Still ran hot.  GM shop said the gauges were not working and there  was air in the system.  Air has been bled and "cluster" unit has been replaced.  Compression test is good.  Fans are running after ignition is off, there is a small amount of coolant on the concrete in the morning, and I smell coolant when I get out of the car.    HELP!

How will I know if the water pump is not working? Supposably the shop check it.

Agree with toitoineIf ,,,,shop has replaced all this with out changing the pump,i think you may need to check it your self, crank car with cap off,let it heat up for thermostat to open, then you should see the water in the radiator circulate,i think it may be your issue, they have replaced alot, but just not the right thing, check it.

Try flushing out cooling systemic Fl

My 2006 was overheating because of a head gasket leak. The exhaust was leaking into my coolant. If your coolent looks oily and bubbley you have a internal leak. Could be cracked head or just a gasket. When I took mine apart there was an obvious leak in the head gasket and several of the water passages were clogged and needed of cleaning. Took me a month to do the repairs but it's running good now
