Over heating in my car

Hi my name is Britney and I have a poniac g6 07 my car
today was over heating and I was hearing popping noise in
my engine well as it was over heating well I'm driving it felt
ass the speed did not want to pick up so I pulled over until
it picked up but I noticed my over heating lite was on and
my check engine lite was on any opinions on what it might
be

Are your cooling fans coming on? Is the system filled with fuild? Is the pump working?

Yes my cooling fan comes on my air conditioner is running until it start over heating then gets hot.. I'm waiting for the car to cook down to check fluids first

Before you do anything with the vehicle check the coolant level and at this point its very likely the Pontiac now needs a headgasket(s) from overheating. I suggest you have the coolant checked for CO (Carbon Monoxide), done with a chemical tester or better yet a gas analyzer. Have it serviced a competent repair facility-They will give you the news.

There's brown yucky stuff in the coolant levels no liquid in there what so ever
