How rare is the convertible, with these options?

Asked by Jul 03, 2013 at 07:23 PM about the 1972 Pontiac Le Mans

Question type: General

I have a 1972 Pontiac Le Mans Sport Convertible with 350-2bl  factory A/C, Power steering, with a 3-speed manual in the column.(yes, three in the tree.) And it is a originally a New York car. According to PHS, Pontiac made 3438 convertibles.
thanks for your help, Mike

I'm guessing pretty darn rare for these reasons- most V8s would have an auto- and most '72 Le mans rusted into ant heaps long ago

We had a '72 LeMans 2dr hard top when I was a kid. Dad bought it in the spring of '76. By 1972 convertibles were dying out. With the increasing popularity of air- conditioning in cars most people wanted to be cool rather than have their hair blow. Any early '70s convertible is going to be rare. Especially one like yours with the stick shift on the column. Most people got the automatic. Enjoy your classic!! HTH. -Jim
