2 23 37 9 n 100001 vin plate for 67- 71 the 1st digit is the division 2= pontiac the 2nd digit is the series 2=firebird ,the 3rd digit is the model/engine 3= standard model 70-71,37=body code sport coupe,9= the year 1969,N=the plant the car was built at, the rest after that are the production numbers.

you can get all info on your car from pontiac historic services. you send them the vin plus $65.00 & they will send you back a packet of info like what options were originally ordered on that car, what drivetrain came with it ,everything you need to know will be in there.here's the address PHS PO Box 183251 Shelby Twp,Mi. 48318

if you can get the car on a lift or get under it you should be able to see the engine size on the bottom side of the block about 1 inch raised numbers. also on the front of the engine just under the passenger side head there will be a 2 letter stamp that will also tell you what car the engine is from.most repair manuals have the codes or you can always look it up online.the engine code will be something like W7, X7, WU, YU those are for 1970 350ci.
