How do I know what type of 4 speed transmission I have in my 1964 lemans?

Originally there was a tag on the side of the transmission that will tell you. I believe it's on the passenger's side. HTH. -Jim


It is the same 4-speed Muncie used in the GTO- am I wrong? I frequently am- come on Goat Guys, I defy you to call me stupid-

I'm sure that's what it left the factory with. But after 50 years who knows what's in there. -Jim

If it's a muncie the linkage for reverse will be in the tail of the tranny . It could also be a saginaw or a T-10.
