Question type: General

Stupid issue this morning, just bought a 84 Firebird and where the keyhole is for the hatch to open has a small gap, well I did not have a keyring yet so I went to open the hatch to toss the ttops back there and I dropped the friggin key behind the middle brake lens! Im kicking myself in the ass for doing it but now I need to know is there another way to open this beast? I can prob get the key out once Ive opened the back again.

I don't know anyway to open the hatch unless your car has an option on it that includes a remote release switch on the dash. If you have it it will be a pushbutton about halfway across the dash above the radio and below the guages. Next best option is to take your ownership document to your local GM dealer. Once you prove ownership, most will be able to look up your key code using your VIN. Once you have the key code, you can have a key made. Good luck.

You have to hit the latch from the inside of the car it's easy.
