what could it mean when my 74 firebird wont turnover or make noise trying to start....

i turn the key and it makes no noise

Switch on the headlights and try to start it. Do the lights stay nice and bright? If so it's going to be the starter, the neutral safety switch, or the ignition switch (in that order of probability). If the lights dim or flicker badly, or go out it's going to be the battery or the battery cable connections. HTH. -Jim
