1973 Seatbelt question

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1973 Pontiac Firebird.Question the female end and all belts are original and in somewhat good condition. The female end next to console has lost the gm logo thus exposing the spring. All attempts to find replacement have been either expensive or impoosible to find. Will an aftermarket seatbelt female end work with the over the shoulder original belt?If not what are other years are  universal with 73(say 70-72)?I really don't want to spend 800.00 dollars on seat belts any help would be great

I believe that 1968 through '73 were the same. But make sure you get the correct buckle. The shoulder strap buckle is a different width than the lap belt buckle. Any GM will work as well (Chevy, Olds, Buick, etc.). A Cadillac buckle will have the Cadillac Crest on the push button. But otherwise they're the same as well. HTH. -Jim
