I'd clean off the 1/0 Black cable off of the battery as it attaches to ground...with a coarse wirebrush undo the bolt holding the lug on, wirebrush the territory where the lug was and then the lug too~ connect so that the full starting amperage of 300-500 cold cranking amps can make it through this connection and yet the chassis ground that supplies the ignition, fuel pump and the gauges can get proper grounding.....YES it is that important....also get a NEW battery~

I've had it tested and codes ran the third and forth gear on transmission is showing up which is 28 and 28 code. Also another code is 42 that is showing up any suggestions on what to do next?

clear the codes with an OBD-II scanner....replace the negative terminal and reset the clock to the correct time~

perhaps you could test the voltage at the dashboard...should be a solid 12.5 volts there or the ground connection still has to have the corrosion removed....get 'er clean use sandpaper if you have to~

codes should be PXXX such as P0420....p for powertrain...put your mitts on one of these OBD-II readers (available from amazon) then read and clear the codes....they seem to pertain to exhaust emissions~

are you gettin' real shitty gas mileage?...stinky exhaust?

the OBD-II port is always within three feet of the ignition switch~
