Question type: Maintenance & Repair

had the motor changed in my 2006 chevy cobalt, it had a 2.4 ecotec motor the motor that was put in it was said to be the same year type and model motor, but when I got it back the transmission wont shift out of first gear. reverse still works also , but even in drive the car wont shift out of first gear. its automatic trans. the guy that changed the motors out also didn't hook the odometer back up and didn't put a doughnut gasket in it please help ,the trans worked perfect before the motor swap, thank you.

Make sure your mechanic does it right, might be some connections still not made. Since the trans was working/shifting when you dropped it off, it's on his dime to get it working again.
