If it were me, I wouldn't. At 300k it could last another 5 years or it could die tomorrow. Try to find something with a little less mileage if possible.

i agree with the last post.....unless you can see exactly what maintenance has been done on the car its not a good idea.....although if the car has been maintained and has had every oil change, tranny flush, tune up etc it could probably go another 100,000...rough idling, lifter knocking, or anything out of the ordinary would entice me not to buy the car.

when buying this car the last thing u have to worry about is mileage...depending on how much ur paying for it it would be pretty safe to buy...its an extremely well built engine

well the mileage is actually the first thing you wanna think about along with the price but I think you should go with a car that has a little less mileage than 300k. if it is in good condition and it has a good history with the previous owners then go for it. if it hasn't had a good history and maintenance record than don't bother. the other thing you should think about when buying a car from 1989 is to inspect it in sunlight because if they tell you to come on a rainy day or at night, they are trying to hide the defects and the rain could disguise the possible leakage of fuel or oil and at night in could hide the possible dents or scratches on the car. so its best that you focus on the mileage, the maintenance record, the history with the previous owners, to inspect the car in sunlight, the price, and the body damage if possible. trust me if you don't follow the procedures, you might get screwed over by the seller of the vehicle. Here's a tip: if you take good care of a car, it will possibly last you a lifetime

i have a 1990 i bought with 225k and it still runs like a top just under 250ki have had to replace the clutch but thats a given at 200k

I Just Bought a 90 Maxima with 310900 for $100.00 It passed smog. It has straight Body just a noise on the Clutch, probably clutch bearing and heater doesnt work. I can hit 110 mph easy with this baby. So far it runs 600 miles on me on 1 1/2 weeks. I think I got a Steal Deal!

after 3 + months, and at 316,475 miles, the car just suddenly died. I was cruising 45 mph & the engine just shut off. It cranks but wont start! I paid $200 to tow this home!

sorry to hear but at 300K+ miles it's pretty much on it's last leg no matter how awesome a car is.

After 4 months waiting for the mechanic to show up, It's finally running again. I paid $200 labor + 60 parts for a timing belt replacement. Then after 2 days I got stuck at walmart, battery's dead, but I knew it already so I just bought a new one for $100. currently 317,500 miles!
