The "gauge panel" or cluster is a common problem with older cars. especially nissans. I would try geting a new cluster because for some reason they tend to go bad quick than other makes, although it could also be a bad sensor on your transmission somewhere.

well I got lucky today I replaced the main fusible link and bingo all the cluster functions seemed to be working now it visually did not seem bad but it was I would say this is a item that should be checked when having some electric issues thanks for the input

Where and what color is this 'main fusible link', please?

on my 1986 nissan 300zx turbo, my brake lights work, my reverse lights work but my tail lights for driving at night don't work. What's missing? I checked all the internal fuses and they are all good. Help.
