sounds like the alternator may be bad but first things first try and test the cables. also if you are near an auto shop or parts store like autozone they can test the alternator and battery if the cables are not corroded and problematic. when you press on the gas does it try to die at high idle and under power or just when accelerating from a stop? does it have oil? what kind of gas are you using? is there smoke coming form the exhaust?
