recurring engine light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son has a mazda 6, the engine light keeps coming on, we've changed 02 sensor, gas cap, he had an oil lead, changed the gasket but the damn light keeps coming on,  we need to get this car to pass inspection.  He is going to autozone to have them give him a code.  Is there anything else we need to look at?

That's your best bet. Have it scanned. When the check engine light comes on have it scanned before throwing parts at it. The trouble codes remain in the computer even if the light goes out. When you get the codes, post them here and we can help further. HTH. -Jim

Thank you, I had my son take it to autozone, the code came back "faulty Catalytic" so we are going to talk to the garage about that one. Thank you so much

You're welcome. Glad to help. When replacing the catalytic converter be sure you get the correct one. Some vehicles have California Emissions while others have Federal Emissions. The emissions decal under the hood will tell you which converter you need. HTH. -Jim
