1989 VW Cabriolet, 200k mileage - worth considering?

Asked by Mar 23, 2017 at 10:31 PM about the 1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I was driving a similar VW for some time in South Africa and loved it. However, that was a long-term rental with mechanical assistance. I have no experience with car repairs but am keen to get into it. Does it make sense to consider buying this one or will it just be a pain due to its age and mileage? Asking price is $1800; too much?

Thanks!!

That is a lot of miles. Have it checked out to make sure it is not at deaths door. You can always offer less. Ask yourself if you can afford to throw away $1,800.
