Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the car sat for 8 months and i put fuel stable in the tank now it wont idle or run properly , i changed the fuel filter , removed the injectors and cleaned as best as i could and even removed the fuel distribution block soaking it , the car will start but backfires thru the aircleaner and stalls , if by chance i get passed the backfiring it will rev to redline but dies returning to idle , i also changed the plugs , new cap and rotor , the points looked good ,,, i have tons of fuel pressure when i remove the outlet line from the filter , the only thing i have not cleaned is the fuel pressure adjustment screw. all vac lines are solid and connected , when i removed the injectors i didnt replace the seals so maybe im loosing pressure there , by the way when i parked the car last october it ran great , please any pointers would be great

Hi dick_davenport, I would check/adjust the following: Lean air/fuel mixture Ignition timing Empty fuel tank and refill (may have water/condensation) Vacuum leakage (all rubber hoses) Spark plug gap (all) Check Engine light ("trouble codes") Thanks for your patronage at CarGurus.com.
