What is the commonly recommended engine Oil for a 1972 VW Beetle?

The newer VeeDubs use a Euro spec oil. The '72 air cooled engine could use any of the modern oils. I would probably go with a synthetic 5W30. --- I actually have to read Bob's recommendations to see what my next oil should be. My GM oil life monitor says 30% left so I'll need a oil change in the next couple months.
