What would a 1971 volkswagen conv with only 40000 org miles no rust looks new worth?
Depending on the condition of that "originality", with any extra trinkets, & documented history, in this economy today, I'd venture to guess around $17,000 - $25,000. In past years I've seen convertibles go for well over $30,000 in a strong economy in less than mint shape...so hang onto it...or buy it, whatever the case may be! I've been involved with VWdom since 1966 so this is honest info.
the price will depend on location and shape of car. location being one of the biggest driving factors in vw pricing. in california where there are tons of vw's the price will be lower. you can find nice examples of late verts for 7-10 grand. these are very nice cars, decent ones around 4-7 grand and not so decent ones really cheap. get into the midwest and the price goes up, as it does on the east coast. simply there isn't as many cars to choose from. don't be fooled, verts will usually bring more than sedans, BUT it's still a late model vw (fat chick). the prices listed by the other poster are way off unless it's an early model car (pre 66) or in outstanding fully restored condition. if you check around your area you should be able to find other vw's for sale and get an idea on the prices they are running. you could check e-bay but usually the prices there are on the high side. you can also look on thesamba.com it's about the largest vw site on the net and has an extensive classifieds section. you can search the classifieds and see exactly what the prices are around your area. also, you will get to see pics of the cars to compair conditions.
