It could be that the clutch is not releasing all the way. IIRC, the car has a cable that can be adjusted.

Ok will it go into gear with the engine off? If not then there is a little rubber link arm back by the transmission that looks like to flat spoons held together by a hunk of rubber sometimes the rubber hunk disintegrates and you loose the link to the tranny. If it goes into gear shove in the clutch and just tap the starter, if the car lurches with the starter then the clutch is not releasing as tenspeed said and to could be cable adjustment or an overstreached cable or the clutch disc is bonded to the flywheel.
