how do I get my 1970 vw transmission unstuck from 3rd gear?

Did you shut the car off before returning the car to park?


Does the shifter still feel connected to,the transmissions? If not it could have broke the rubber isolator connector between the shift rod and the transmission shift rod, if it still feels connected you may have to block the front wheels and jack it the rear up,and block it and then slide under there and see if you can move the shift rod manually, the shifter may have enough wear in it that it might not be moving enough to change gears.
